AMA follows through on its threat

From Medgadget blogger and AMA member Michael Ostrovsky, MD:

Sad news to report. The American Medical Association has finally made the online version of AMNews--"The Newspaper for America's Physicians"--an exclusive service for AMA members. This is despite protests from numerous medbloggers . [Including from the Health business blog.]We still believe that the AMA has a responsibility to communicate to society on the various public policy issues. Despite its responsibilities, the AMA chose to hide an important public policy journal from the public itself. Now this organization has no free online publications anymore. Thanks to all online activists who picked up on this important matter.

The AMA is steadily losing members. Do they really think that withdrawing this publication from the general public will help stem the decline?
