No deal!

No deal!

As I mentioned before (Taking the consumer directed plunge?), I asked my health plan, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of MA to provide a quote on a consumer directed health plan. I'd heard the consumer directed plans were being priced aggressively but that doesn't seem to be the case in Massachusetts.I currently have a comprehensive HMO plan. I was quoted prices for two consumer plans, one with a $2200 family deductible and one with a $5400 deductible. The quote on the first plan was 3% more than what I'm paying now for the HMO, and the plan with the $5400 deductible was only 19% less. It didn't seem like a good deal to me.I then checked with the other major carriers in my state, Harvard Pilgrim and Tufts. Harvard was also high-priced (the broker I spoke with says he hasn't sold a single Harvard consumer directed plan!) and Tufts was being somewhat more aggressive. Tufts is charging 28% less than what I pay now for a plan with a $6000 deductible. I'd rather stick with Blue Cross, so I think I'll wait and see what happens.
