Sobering thoughts
Sobering thoughtsTwo letters to the editor of the Wall Street Journal give reasons to avoid alcohol:
- One writer cites physicist Richard Feynman as his inspiration. "[H]e stopped drinking when he realized that alcohol interfered with his most pleasurable activity: thinking"
- A psychiatrist recommends abstinence so patients can better understand their underlying emotions. "Even... one or two drinks per day [can have] negative effects on a variety of experiences. I... find that my colleagues... underestimate... the subtle negative effects of moderate drinking on their... patients," due to their own drinking habits
